The
OSAT scheme has been developed by the CITB to encourage
exisiting workers to achieve National Vocational
Qualifications (NVQ's).
OSAT is being used
by a wide range of organisations with experienced,
but unqualified people. It is recognised as an effective
and economic way to meet the industry's and client's
requirements for a safe, competent and NVQ qualified
work force.

this route to your NVQ.
Stage 1

request information about experienced workers
gaining NVQ's and CSCS cards. |
Stage 2

Assessor from the Plastering
& Artexing Training School initiates a visit
to explain OSAT route to prospective candidate(s).
The discuss the Health & Safety test, possible
grants avaliable and the best way forward. |
Stage 3

Register candidate(s) on
to programme. Profile the candidate's experience
(skills match). Discuss the NVQ requirements
(standards). |
Stage 4

Visit candidate's in the
work place (on site).
Assess candidate's experience
from evidence of previous work.
Produce an assessment plan.
Carry out observational assessments of the candidate
at work.
Assess the candidates knowledge by oral/written
questions.
Explain what evidence is required for each step
of the NVQ. |
Stage 5

Build portfolio of evidence
and when sufficient apply to the awarding body
for certification. |
