Plastering
A National vocational qualification, is a measure of
an individual's capability to carry out a range of
work to the performance criteria, that has been agreed
by industry and the standards setting body C.I.T.B
(construction skills). Such qualifications are accessible
to everyone. Traditional barriers such as age, sex,
the length and type of training, and how skills have
been acquired have been removed. The only constraint
remaining is compliance with statutory regulations
and legal requirements.
The range of work, identified in the national occupational
standards can form units of competence, with or without
elements.
An N.V.Q is made up of a number of units of competence
which can be accumulated over any period of time and
in any sequence. Each unit of competence is of sufficient
size and scope to be recognised in industry and have
value in employment. It is the smallest part of an
N.V.Q that can be accredited and is transferable to
other appropriate N.V.Q's.
To achieve an N.V.Q you must be working in the industry,
meet the criteria, and pass an independent health and
safety test, which will be arranged during your course.
I.C.A & N.V.Q
The award /
N.V.Q for which you register can be tailored to your
requirements; Example
1. One week block every other month
2. Two week block every 4-6 months
3. Continuous block until performance achieval
This is normally discussed on application/induction,
before commencement of course to ensure mutual (you
and centre) requirements.
As each individual acheives at different levels of
learning the course can be extended to ensure all units
required are covered until you are confident within
your chosen trade.
